Smartphone Provisioning Decision Tree
How to decide if a participant can use their own phone (BYOD) or requires a study-provisioned smartphone.
Step 1: Check Smartphone Compatibility
Ask the participant what phone they currently use.
- Apple: Must be any device running iOS 17 or more recent.
- Android: Must be any device running Android 12 or higher.
Step 2: Check Connectivity
- Does the participant have stable Internet at home (Wi-Fi)?
- Do they have a mobile data plan (4G/5G)?
Decision
- If YES to both: The participant may use their own device (BYOD).
